Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s the answers to the most frequent  wedding photography questions I get asked from my lovely brides and grooms:

How far in advance do I need to book with you?

I tend to book up for wedding season anywhere from 3-12 months in advance. Some book me the minute they find out they’re engaged and some wait until all of the planning is finished. Once you’re engaged I highly recommend contacting me right away with your wedding date to see if I’m still available. I have to turn away a lot of couples because I’m booked a year out sometimes. The worst thing is to find a wedding photographer you love and for them to be booked on your day!

How long have you been in business?

I have been in business since 2010 and have happily shot over 100 weddings in that time.

How would you describe your working style?

I prefer to work more behind the scenes to capture the day how it truly happened and to document the smiles and the tears with as little interference as possible. I describe my image style as vibrant, full of natural light, and emotional. I will however make sure to direct you both in the best possible light and locations that I can find which can fluctuate during the times of the day in what looks best.

What type of equipment do you use?

I use wedding industry standard equipment. Nikon gear, all the lenses to go from portraits to ceremony and off camera lighting to capture the reception. I sometimes bring along film cameras and polaroids.

Do wedding photographers require a meal?

Yes, anything over 5 hrs. of work I require a meal for me and also if I bring a 2nd shooter. Most catering companies you speak with offer different vendor meals from your traditional plate dinner.

May I have a list of references?

I do have reviews on my website and also through wedding wire from amazing couples I have worked with.

Are you the photographer who will shoot my wedding? Who do you use as a 2nd shooter?

I will be the primary photographer at your wedding. I shoot with a few 2nd photographers that also have their own business and an aesthetic close to mine. Each one I work with I have worked with on numerous weddings and are dependent on their availability for you wedding date.

Do you have backup equipment? What about a backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for some reason?

I do have a backup camera and lenses in the event something happens to my primary camera. In the event that I am unable to shoot your wedding another photographer with a similar style as me will be chosen to fill my place so someone will be there day of!

If my wedding or engagement site is out of your area, do you charge a travel fee and what does that cover?

I don’t have any travel fees for the state of Colorado and some states in the Southwest region. Out of state and out of country weddings would be custom quoted for travel fees. Travel fees include flight, lodging, and sometimes rental car. I absolutely love shooting everywhere so I keep travel costs as low as possible for my couples.

Are you photographing other events on the same day as mine?

When you book with me you are reserving your date and I will not book anything else on your date.

How will you be dressed?

I dress professionally semi-formal to match the attire of the wedding guests.

Is it okay if other people take photos while you’re taking photos?

I do not mind if family members and guests take photos during the wedding but per my contract I am the only allowed main photographer for your wedding and you may not hire another one during the same day. Photobooths are the only exception to a hired photographer.

Have you ever worked at my wedding site before? If not, do you plan to check it out in advance?

I have worked at many different wedding venues in Colorado but have not been to all of them. I always try to check out the venues beforehand and familiarize myself with lighting and possible shoot locations. I also get to know the wedding venue coordinators day of that will tell me anything else I may need to know. Checking out your venue will be based on availability but I am quick to familiarize myself with the space on the day of if need be.

What time will you arrive at the site and for how long will you shoot?

All of my packages offer full day wedding coverage (up to 8 hrs.) That means that I usually arrive to capture getting ready details and leave once the important reception activities are over.

How long after the wedding will I get the proofs?

I deliver images up to 6-8 weeks after the wedding date. I sometimes may put a preview on my blog in the first week after the wedding and then they will be viewable in an online proofing gallery.

Will you give me the digital images, and is there a fee for that? How many images will I receive?

I do offer high res edited digital negatives with print rights with some of my packages as an a la carte add on. On average for an 8 hr. wedding you receive 400-600 images approximately. This amount fluctuates due to amount of details, activities, and number of photographers and will not be guaranteed.

How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan?

I require a $500 deposit in order to book your date and it is due at the time of booking and signing the contract. The rest of the package balance amount is due 30 days before your wedding date.

Do you have liability insurance?

Absolutely, yes!
